All instructional content in FTC’s The Foundation, Tactical Advantage, and Leading-Edge Skills Lesson categories was created by Ian Clark, a 25-year NHL Goaltending Coach and Director of Goaltending. Throughout his NHL career, Clark has coached players such as Roberto Luongo, Sergei Bobrovsky, Jacob Markstrom, Thatcher Demko, Linus Ullmark, and many other NHL netminders. The Goaltender Physiology and The Mental Game lessons are developed by FTC professionals and contributors.

It’s for everyone. Whether you're just starting out or one of the game’s best looking to refine your elite skills and knowledge, FTC Modules address the entire spectrum of a goaltender’s development, from fundamentals to the latest, most innovative concepts. FTC is designed for all ages and skill levels.

It is an essential resource. Featuring remarkable video content and engaging imagery, FTC’s learning materials are unmatched and offered at unprecedented affordability.

Training Activities include the following categories:

• Self-Development Activities for Goalies
• PSM (Position-Specific Movement) and Intro Drills for Coaches
• Bridge Drills for Coaches

• And More

Yes. Every technical Lesson contains a combination of visual training aids, including video. For Goalies, these Lessons will contain both Lesson Detail videos to support technical content as well as Self- Development Activity videos. For Coaches, each Lesson will contain Lesson Detail videos to support technical content, plus PSM and Intro Activity videos, Bridge Drill videos, and Pro Demonstration videos designed to be readily available in your on-ice training environments.

Yes. Lessons and supporting content are available for viewing as often as you wish. You will always have an Active Module. As a new Module is released and becomes your new Active Module, your previously unlocked Module moves to your Archive for future reference.

No. The app offers both on-ice and off-ice training content. Module learning happens off-ice. A key part of self-development and self-guided training is understanding the skills you're working on. FTC Modules will support you in mastering this knowledge. Then, you can apply this understanding alongside the Self-Development Activities on the ice to enhance your skills.

So, you can train all year, even during the off-season or when rink access is limited.

The FTC App was designed as the world’s leading self-guided tool for hockey goaltending development. With our Goalie motto, Be Your Own Best Goalie Coach, you can take control of your growth through FTC’s step- by-step module instruction. To enhance FTC's effectiveness, it has also been created to support the 360° development cycle (concept to gameplay) by making interaction with your Coach very simple. Now, instead of waiting for lessons or feedback from your Coach weekly or monthly, you can connect with your Coach each time you step on the ice.

Using TRENDkeeper™ greatly improves the development experience. Your stats and performance trends automatically sync with your Coach whenever you record a game event and its metrics. This allows your Coach to give feedback on your gameplay and results. The combined use of Modules, Lessons, Feedback, Activities, and Trends provides the ultimate training and development journey for Goalies and Coaches.

No more wasting time and money on the wrong areas in your game. FTC is unquestionably your best return on investment for development.

As a paid Goalie subscriber, you can connect with your coach as long as they are also a paid FTC subscriber. Use the Add Coach function and the Coach’s QR code or enter their Affiliate Code to establish the connection. Once connected, you can share your TRENDkeeper™ performance trends with your coach. Additionally, your Coach can provide feedback, share drills, and award badges through the App.

As a paid Coach subscriber, you can connect with your “paid” goalies. Use the Add Goalie feature and scan the Goalie’s QR Code to establish the connection. Once connected, you can provide feedback, share drills, and award badges through the App. Additionally, your goalie can share their TRENDkeeper™ performance trends with you, so you are always aware of each goalie’s unique development needs.

Yes, paid Goalie subscribers can connect with their Coach to receive feedback, development activities, badges, and share performance trends.

Yes. The App logs progress in two ways. Prominently on your dashboard, it shows your Module progress and guides you through each Lesson. Additionally, TRENDkeeper™ monitors performance metrics for both your own use and your Coach. With TRENDkeeper™, you’ll always know exactly where to focus your developmental efforts.

TRENDkeeper™ is FTC’s proprietary performance tracker. By entering your goals against metrics after each game, you will gain insight into your strengths and weaknesses, as well as identify practical areas to focus on to lower your goals against and improve your performance. While technical skill is important, achieving elite gameplay is the ultimate objective. By understanding how goals are scored against you, you can target and address areas for development. TRENDkeeper™ utilizes four metric categories: Tactical, Shot Type, Zone Location, and Net Location. Each goal is evaluated based on four of the twenty-six metrics, which help analyze and track your trends.

Even better, you can share your trends with your Coach. This will help your Coach better understand where their coaching focus should be when the two of you step on the ice - no more wasting time or money.

As FTC Modules are introduced into the system, Activities are incorporated into the broader FTC Activity Library. As a paid Coach subscriber, you will have full access to this library of development activities. These include a wide range of drills and exercises designed to support your coaching and your goaltenders’ growth and performance. You can search, browse, and share these activities with one or multiple goaltenders as needed.

Absolutely. All editorial, video, and interactive content is reviewed and moderated before publishing.

At FTC, we take the safety of our youth users very seriously and have safeguards in place to prevent inappropriate or harmful communication. However, no system is foolproof, and we encourage parents and guardians to monitor their child’s use of the app actively. If you notice any concerning behavior or communication, immediately block the linked coach, and please report it to us so we can take appropriate action.

Every user can report content or interactions directly within the app. Reports are reviewed promptly by our safety team, and actions are taken based on our zero-tolerance policy for abuse or harassment.

Both Goalies and Coaches have the ability to block or disconnect from a user they’re linked to at any time. Suppose you block someone due to concerns about the type of communication being exchanged. In that case, we ask that you notify us immediately so that we can investigate and take the appropriate actions.

The FTC Organizational Tier offers hockey organizations an affordable way to provide world-class goaltending development, tools, and support to their goalies, goalie coaches, and coaches. Organizations can onboard all their goalies and goalie coaches, enhancing these relationships while equipping coaches with the tools to better understand, teach, and support goaltending development.

FTC is designed to support, complement, and elevate your program, not replace it. It works in unison with your coaches and goalie coaches, delivering cutting-edge tools and resources to accelerate development, drive need-based development, and support year-round goaltending mentorship. It provides a foundational reference, reinforces concepts, builds ownership of the crease, and creates greater consistency in how goaltending is taught.

Organizational pricing makes high-level goaltending development affordable and accessible: $48 per goalie seat and $150 per goalie coach seat for the entire year (USD). Organizations choose how many goalie and coach seats their program needs.

When an organization provides FTC, it becomes part of the development process rather than just another resource a goalie might use. It creates a more connected goaltending ecosystem: goalies get a structured development path, coaches get consistent teaching resources and game-performance analytics, and everyone working with a goalie shares a common development language and framework. Through Coach Connect, coaches see their goalies’ game data, assign activities, deliver feedback, and reinforce key concepts, creating real consistency between what the organization teaches and what goalies work on independently. The organization can offer a higher level of goaltending support without building everything from scratch.

Coach Connect links goalies and coaches within the FTC platform. Coaches can roster their goalies, assign development activities, provide feedback, and recognize progress with badges. When a goalie logs game data in TRENDkeeper, their coach can view the analytics through Coach Connect, providing a clearer picture of each goalie’s performance and where development is needed.

Beyond the goalie coaches, FTC provides head or assistant coaches with a library of goaltending-specific resources, including detailed written materials, imagery, and hundreds of narrated drill videos (200+ added each year), enabling them to consistently support goaltending growth even without being goaltending specialists.

FTC supports goalies across the full range of ages and skill levels, from beginner to pro. It focuses on building strength in the foundational elements and provides goalies with mentorship and progressive building blocks to become an elite-level goaltender. FTC is built upon the 7-ingredient goaltending model: athletic, competitive, instinct/IQ, mental capacity, reactivity, technique, and visual.

Goalies receive FTC’s structured development curriculum, including 48 lessons per year, narrated instructional videos, world-class visual learning aids, and self- development activities designed to help them understand their game and take greater ownership of it. With TRENDkeeper, they can track game data, spot trends, and gain actionable development guidance.

Data entered across four key goals-against metrics (tactical, shot type, zone location, and net location) is compiled to pinpoint specific areas of focus, enabling goalie coaches to guide and develop more effectively. Coaches can also use TRENDkeeper to identify where their team needs structural focus and adjust their game plan accordingly.

FTC is built on a simple idea: goalies can “be their own best goalie coach”. Rather than just completing drills, they learn to understand their game, track their performance, and recognize their own trends, taking an active role in their development on and off the ice. By combining this crease ownership with mentorship and guidance from their goalie coaches, goalies accelerate their development, and organizations elevate their entire goaltending ecosystem.
